'''Danny O'Brien''' (b. 1969) is an English technology journalist. He writes a weekly column for the ''Sunday Times'' and the ''Irish Times''; has previously written for ''The Guardian'', and acted as a consultant in helping ''The Guardian'' formulate its online strategy. He has worked for the UK edition of ''Wired'', as well as Channel 4 and British ISP Virgin.net. Together with Dave Green, he writes the monthly email newsletter Need To Know.Originally from London, he now resides in San Jose, California. In May 2005 he replaced Ren Bucholz as Activist Coordinator for the Electronic Frontier Foundation. He also set up a pledge on PledgeBank to help coordinate the establishment of "an organisation that will campaign for digital rights in the UK" which lead to the creation of the Open Rights Group.
