Jerry Nolan
Jerry Nolan (May 7, 1946 – January 14, 1992) was an American rock and roll drummer who played with The New York Dolls and The Heartbreakers. With Heartbreakers Nolan went to tour and conquer England. They joined the ill fated Anarchy tour and started recording in England. They played gigs in England and their shows really showed how they were a way ahead of those other punk bands at the time. Jerry quit Heartbreakers soon after release of their first and last studio album L.A.M.F. over disagreements in mixing the album which was quite poor, but joined them again in various occasion for bunch of liveshows and tours.Jerry remained friends with Johnny Thunders(with whom he co-founded Heartbreakers together with Richard Hell) and their collaboration continued periodically until Thunders died in bewildering circumstances in New Orleans 1991.Jerry was left shaken without his long time friend and partner in crime ( they both had addiction to hard drugs, heroin and such) and he died next year(not drug related). He was considered to be the first punk rock drummer. Rumour says he taught Peter Criss from Kiss how to play drums the way they are ment to play. Recommended albums are the New York Dolls: Red patent leather (live album) and Johnny Thunders& Heartbreakers: L.A.M.F (the lost ´77 mix). Nolan, Jerry
