Kate Pierson from the R.E.M. music video 'Shiny Happy People']]Kate Pierson (born 27 April 1948) is one of the lead singers of The B-52's. She also has played keyboard and guitar for the band.She has collaborated with Iggy Pop, R.E.M., the Ramones, Matthew Sweet, and Time of Orchids. She was also a member of NiNa (along with Yuki Isoya), a Japanese supergroup.She played in Athens, Georgia, and soon the club scene in New York City, with the B-52's at the same time as such bands as the Indigo Girls and R.E.M.In 2004 Pierson opened ''Motel'' in Mt.
