Mark Price

William Mark Price (born February 15, 1964 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma) is a former NBA basketball player. The 6-foot former Georgia Tech point guard mystified critics who said he was too slow, too small and too deliberate for a high-level game. Picked first in the second round (25th overall) by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1986 NBA Draft, he was acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in a draft day trade that helped turn the Cavs into an Eastern Conference power. Through hard work and gritty determination, he developed into a first-class floor general, a nice combination of a shooter, penetrator and defender who stepped up his game at critical moments. One of the best 3-point marksmen in the league, Price is also a career 90 percent free throw shooter who has ranked consistently among the assist leaders. The two-time Long Distance Shootout champion and four-time All-Star had been plagued by injuries late in his career, a factor in his trade to the Washington Bullets prior to the 1995-96 season. He played one season for Washington before moving on to the Golden State Warriors and the Orlando Magic, where he played his final season. He retired in 1998 and will always be a fan favorite in Cleveland.Price and college teammate John Salley are among the very few college basketball players to have had their numbers (not just their jerseys) retired by their school.Price, Mark
