Tony Kanal
Tony KanalTony Ashwin Kanal (born August 27, 1970) is the bassist for the group No Doubt. He was born in Kingsbury, London, England. Kanal joined No Doubt in 1987, replacing their original bass player Chris Leal. For much of the band's existence, he was in a relationship with the group's frontwoman, Gwen Stefani, that ended in the mid-1990s just before No Doubt achieved superstardom with the album ''Tragic Kingdom''. Many of the songs from that album, notably the band's biggest hit, "Don't Speak", were written by Stefani based on her relationship with Kanal and their breakup.Kanal grew up in Yorba Linda, California and went to high school in nearby Anaheim. He is of Indian descent. Currently, he resides in Los Feliz, a Los Angeles neighborhood where he also keeps his recording studio, Kingsbury Studios. His No Doubt bandmate, Gwen Stefani lives not too far from him in the same area.Kanal is known to be a big fan of fellow musician Prince.Kanal, Tony
